Newton Medical Center’s Facilities & Safety Director Shane Meier has completed Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance’s (MEEA) Building Operator Certification® (BOC).
Meier was awarded the certification at a December 13th event.
“Shane’s initiative to augment his knowledge for added proficiency in managing our facilities is characteristic of Shane. He takes ownership of his role to ensure our facilities are maintained and operate efficiently to the benefit of our patients and our staff,” said Todd Tangeman, Newton Medical Center chief operating officer.
BOC is a nationally recognized, competency-based program that focuses on energy-efficient building operations. Training includes nearly 74 hours of classroom and project work in building systems operation and maintenance, and it is completed over a seven month period.
In addition to this certification, Meier holds a bachelor’s degree in life sciences from Kansas State University and both a Master of Health Care Leadership and a Master of Business Administration from Friends University. Meier has served as Newton Medical Center’s director of facilities & safety since 2010.
