Newton Medical Center (NMC) is pleased to announce the upgrade of its electronic medical records (EMR) system beginning June 1. The newly enhanced EMR is the hospital’s latest initiative to further its commitment of excellence in healthcare for those in and around Newton.
The new features in the upgraded EMR will allow NMC to be more efficient, and offer a more coordinated and personalized experience, which in turn leads to a higher level of healthcare excellence.
“I’m incredibly proud of our team in its tireless work to ensure our patients get the highest level of care with advanced EMR capabilities,” says Val Gleason, president and chief executive officer of NMC. “For the past year, we’ve had more than 100 employees completely dedicated to this upgrade, each committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition.”
This EMR system upgrade will offer many benefits to both patients and providers, including greater convenience, quicker and better communications, faster diagnosis and test results and more robust protection of patient privacy and records.
Most notable to patients will be the enhanced level of coordination between the hospital and NMC’s clinics. The upgraded system will provide them with easy access to all their hospital and NMC clinic medical records through a single portal.
The complete transition to the upgraded EMR is expected to take two weeks. The hospital staff will work diligently to minimize any impacts, and ensure patient safety continues to remain top of mind in any interactions.
