Beginning January 15, Newton Medical Center will offer Sunday brunch … with a twist.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. over the next four weeks, the Sunflower Café will offer a healthy special and the opportunity to hear from our registered dietitians. The free program portion, from 12:30 to 12:45 p.m., will feature various health-related topics.
“We are committed to helping keep our community healthy,” said Patti Dollarhide, Newton Medical Center food & nutrition services director. “With the New Year, many people set health goals; and we’re trying to make it easy for people to enjoy a healthy meal while learning tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
While the menu will vary each week, Sunday’s introduction will feature a gourmet avocado, egg and bacon breakfast sandwich and Greek yogurt with homemade granola and fresh fruit. Those who attend the program will learn about the benefits of protein, with a special demonstration on how to make homemade high-protein granola.
Patrons can enjoy the Sunday brunch special, along with complimentary coffee and tea, at a cost of $5.99 (not including tax) per person. Seniors will receive a 15 percent discount. Regular dining options will also be available in addition to the brunch special.
The Sunflower Café is located inside Newton Medical Center, at 600 Medical Center Drive. To view the menu and presentation topics, visit www.newtonmed.com.
