Newton Medical Center (NMC) has launched a new program to recognize extraordinary employees. The program highlights employees who exemplify NMC’s values of respect, excellence, service and trust.
“Every day we positively impact the lives of those who come to us for care, healing and wellness,” said Todd Tangeman, chief operating officer and chief human resources officer, NMC. “We do so in concert; it takes many people working together to deliver care and service that is often complex and multi-faceted. So, it seemed right that we should have a way to acknowledge the great work and contribution of any of our team members, regardless of his or her role.”
Last year, NMC began participation in the international DAISY Award© program. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award honors registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) for the skillful, compassionate care they provide.
Expanding upon that program, NMC has created awards for clinical, non-nursing staff as well as non-clinical staff.
The BEE Award, which stands for be extraordinary every day, honors passionate, dedicated and skillful clinical, non-nursing staff including physicians, mid-level providers, lab and imaging technicians, therapists and other clinicians.
The LIFE Award, which stands for live it fully every day, honors passionate, dedicated and skillful non-clinical employees, such as those in housekeeping, registration, accounting, administration and many other departments across the hospital.
The first award recipient will be announced during this year’s National Hospital Week, May 6-12. Anyone may nominate a deserving NMC employee. Nominations may be submitted online at www.newtonmed.com/ or in person; brochures are available in the hospital lobby and waiting areas.
