When the holiday season rolls around, you start thinking of family meals, gift giving and time with loved-ones, but for our active military members, the family they have at home can be thousands of miles away.
NMC Health staff have been collecting items and monetary donations to send holiday care packages to our troops as a thank you and to honor our military veteran staff.
Everything from playing cards to snacks and even video games were donated this 2021 holiday year. NMC Health has 23 military veterans who are employees or on medical staff. Travis McGill severed in the U.S. Army 17 years ago. He was stationed in Afghanistan and knows first hand how it felt to receive one of these care packages.
“It made me feel like there were people back home thinking about us.”

“It made me feel like there were people back home thinking about us,” he shared as he overlooked all the gifts.
NMC Health is proud to support our military members. On Veteran’s Day, we provided a special presentation for our vets.
All the gifts our staff have collected will be sorted, packaged and shipped by the Hesston Area Senior Center as part of their Operation: Christmas Stocking program.
Val Gleason, President and CEO of NMC Health shared her excitement about the turnout.
“We have a strong family culture at NMC Health. I’m so proud of our staff for coming together like this and donating to help our military members,” she said. “Our staff collected these gifts and donated them to honor of our twenty-four employees and physicians who are Veterans of the Armed Services.”
