NEWTON, Kan., (May 5, 2021) – NMC Health announced that it has once again received the coveted 5-Star Overall Hospital Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). This is the third consecutive year for NMC Health to receive this honor as one of only six hospitals in the state of Kansas to achieve a 5-Star status in 2021.
“This recognition places us in the top 15 percent of hospitals across the nation for overall quality,” Vallerie Gleason, President and Chief Executive Officer said. “We owe this honor to the hard work all our employees and medical staff members do each and every day to protect and defend our patients. From ensuring a clean and well maintained facility to fastidiously following quality and safety practices to deliver excellent care, we mean it when we say your health is our focus.”
The CMS rating system was initiated in 2016 and features 48 measures regarding mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience and timely and effective care. NMC Health is one of 455 hospitals receiving a 5-star rating in this year’s CMS reporting.
