This June, Newton Medical Center (NMC) is proud to participate in the second annual celebration of Wound Healing Awareness Month.
Just last year, June was named Wound Healing Awareness Month by the American Board of Wound Management Foundation. This celebration highlights the dedication of NMC and the wound care community has in recognizing the challenges experienced by individuals whose lives are affected daily by chronic wounds.
“Many people have wounds at one time or another in their lifetime, and sometimes ointment and a bandage will fix it,” said Kim Harris, nurse manager of the Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center at NMC. “Other times, due to underlying health issues, a wound can be crippling and will severely damage quality of life. We’re here to help treat those hard-to-heal wounds.”
As part of Wound Healing Awareness Month, NMC is hosting an open house at its Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center on Friday, June 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. Visitors will be able to tour the facility, speak with consultants on hyperbaric oxygen therapy and receive free assessments of feet, wounds and skin issues.
