Beginning Saturday, September 2, Newton Medical Center’s Sunflower Café will have new, shortened weekend hours.
While weekday hours will remain the same, 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., weekend hours will change to 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“Upon reviewing last year’s visitor rate in the café and finding that it was especially low on the weekends, we made the decision to change our hours of operation,” said Patti Dollarhide, Newton Medical Center director of food & nutrition services. “Not only does it allow us to more effectively utilize our resources, but it will provide the opportunity for our team to focus more on the patient dining experience through room service dining.”
Last summer, the Sunflower Café began offering room service dining for patients and visitors. Available daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., it features cooked to order meals that are delivered within 45 minutes. Room service dining will now also be available to staff on weekends.
