NEWTON, Kan., (October 13, 2015) – Newton Medical Center (NMC) has donated an automated external defibrillator (AED) to Health Ministries Clinic. This machine is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to attempt to restore a normal rhythm. AED’s are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest and conditions in which the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating.

“Newton Medical Center has long been a supporter of Health Ministries Clinic. The donation of this very critical medical safety device is just another example of their commitment to the overall health care of the communities we both serve,” says Matthew Schmidt, Executive Director of Health Ministries Clinic.

The AED will be placed in Health Ministries Clinic’s location in Halstead, located at 126 Main Street.
