NEWTON, Kan., (July 18, 2024) – NMC Health is proud to announce the celebration of a 50-year partnership with Newton Meals on Wheels. The collaboration between the two organizations has been instrumental in addressing food insecurity and ensuring that homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities in our community receive nutritious meals every day. With a dedicated team of volunteers, Meals on Wheels delivers an average of 95 meals daily, seven days a week, making a significant impact on the lives of those in need. Meals are prepared by the food and nutrition services team at NMC Health.

NMC Health has been a steadfast supporter of Newton Meals on Wheels since July 29, 1974, providing essential meal preparation, menu development, staff resources, and funding support. The partnership has not only ensured the delivery of meals but also fostered a sense of community and care among recipients.

As Newton Meals on Wheels and NMC Health celebrate this significant milestone, they will reaffirm their commitment to combating hunger and isolation among vulnerable populations during an open house celebration on Tuesday, August 6, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at NMC Heath Medical Center (600 Medical Center Drive, Newton). Both organizations also extend their heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, donors, and community members who have supported their efforts over the past five decades.
