Medicaid Insurance Biller – Hospital Claims (on campus)

We are currently seeking a Medicaid Insurance Biller (Hospital Claims) for our Patient Financial Services Department. In this role, you will be preparing, reviewing, and electronically transmitting Medicaid claims in a timely manner using electronic billing software (Meditech and SSI). In addition, following up on unpaid claims, investigating denials and troubleshooting problems; staying current on Medicaid billing rules, regulations, and policies; and working directly with the Managed Care Organizations representatives and other internal departments.
This is an on-campus position (not remote). No weekends, no holidays, and no on call.
Qualifications:
Education & experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- College or vocational training is preferred
- Meditech experience preferred
- Customer service experience required
- Medical Billing Office or Patient Access experience required
- 2 years of medical insurance billing experience preferred, preferably Medicaid
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of current Medicaid billing and reimbursement procedures required
- CPT and ICD-10 coding knowledge preferred
- Manage varying duties and multiple tasks, organized and self-motivated with strong attention to detail
- Mathematic skills, Microsoft knowledge, and effective written and verbal communication skills for effective contact with insurances in order to resolve issues is required
- Proficient with computers, learning new software, 10-key adding machine
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
- Customer service for interacting with patients and family members, self-motivated and goal oriented, and ability to work in a team environment
Licensure, registration or certification:
- Medical billing terminology required
