Diabetes educator Michelle McAhren to present free program

NEWTON, Kan., (Jan. 7, 2015) – Exercise reduces a person’s risk of colon and breast cancer by 40 percent.

Exercise plays an important role in healthcare, and Certified Diabetes Educator Michelle McAhren, RN, BSN, will discuss the benefits of exercise for diabetics at February’s diabetes support group at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 in the Sunflower Café, 600 Medical Center Dr.

McAhren will also give recommendations on types of exercises as well as sample exercises.

The event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.

NMC offers an American Diabetes Association-accredited diabetes education program. Led by McAhren, the program includes one-on-one meetings as well as group classes. Appointments are available with a physician referral. For more information, call 804-6147.
