Newton Medical Center has named Cindy Knoeppel, MSN, RN, CNOR, as chief clinical officer.
Knoeppel fills the position previously held by Val Gleason, who recently became CEO of the hospital.
“Cindy’s credentials and years of progressive managerial experience have prepared her to assume these new and expanded responsibilities. She is well-equipped as a clinical nurse specialist to address population health management, which is a key domain of the emerging healthcare environment,” says Gleason. “Cindy’s calm demeanor, clinical acumen and experience across multi-disciplines will serve her well in her new role.”

Knoeppel joined Newton Medical Center in 2007 as risk manager. She became executive director of service lines in 2011, and she most recently served as the hospital’s associate chief nursing officer.
A graduate of Pittsburg State University, Knoeppel holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Wichita State University. She is a certified perioperative clinical nurse specialist and is also certified in perioperative nursing practice.
