Newton Medical Center has named Vallerie Gleason as chief executive officer.
Steven G. Kelly, who has served as the hospital’s president and chief executive officer for the last 16 years, will continue to lead the organization as its president, focusing on strategic issues, physician relations, business development and governmental issues.
“This was a logical development in the best interest of the hospital, and it will allow us to get the most out of our time and resources,” says Kelly. “Val was the obvious choice for this position. Her expertise, leadership and commitment to providing first-class patient care will be tremendous assets as we continue to grow and serve the Newton community.”
“After working in administration at the hospital for the past twelve years, it is a privilege to step into the chief executive officer role. Newton Medical Center is a truly excellent hospital, and I look forward to continuing a great leadership legacy,” says Gleason. “I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the hospital as it protects and defends the community’s health and well-being.”
Gleason has been part of Newton Medical Center’s leadership team since 2004. Most recently, she served as the hospital’s chief clinical integration officer, where she oversaw most clinical departments as well as medical staff support services and materials management.
A graduate of Newman University, Gleason holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Master of Business Administration degree from Baker University. She is a board-certified nurse executive, advanced.
In her new role, Gleason will oversee all day-to-day operations of the hospital.
