Precaution helps protect patients and staff during flu season
NEWTON, Kan., (October 1, 2015) – As we’re entering cold and flu season, Newton Medical Center has implemented visitor restrictions for the health of patients and staff.
Restricted visitors include:
- Anyone who has a fever greater than 100.4°F
- Anyone who has a cough
- Children 12 years old and younger
These visitor restrictions are effective now through March 31, 2016.
While the exact timing and duration of flu seasons vary, outbreaks often begin in October and can last as late as May, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Often times, flu activity peaks between December and February.
