Newton Medical Center (NMC) announces the addition of pediatric home health services, now available through its home health agency, Newton Home Health.
The new pediatric services will provide medical assistance to children after an illness, injury or surgery, but who don’t require continuous care by a nurse. Home health nurses help bridge the gap between hospital care and home care by educating and training caregivers and/or providing skilled nursing services. As part of its pediatric services, Newton Home Health also provides speech, occupational and physical therapy.
“When considering pediatric services, we realized that families of children would benefit from additional resources in the home,” said Kesa Easter, NMC home health director. “Currently, the Harvey County Infant Toddler Program is a great local resource through the Department of Education. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with them in order to meet the needs of children and families in our community.”
Additionally, Newton Home Health has re-branded its private duty offerings into a separate agency called Newton Private Duty. In order to provide patients with the most comprehensive home care, NMC holds separate state licenses for home health and private duty services. This change in branding ensures NMC continues to remain compliant with state regulations.
While most of the time no referral is needed for private duty services, home health services, including pediatric home health, require a physician referral. If you think you or a loved one could benefit from home health care, speak with your primary care provider.
