Newton Medical Center (NMC) announces the addition of General Surgeon John McEachern, MD. Dr. McEachern joins Paul Bogner, MD, and John McConeghey, MD, as part of Newton Surgical Group, a Newton Medical Center clinic.
Prior to joining Newton Medical Center, Dr. McEachern practiced at Via Christi Clinic in Newton.
“As a resident of Newton, I’m excited to have the opportunity to continue providing care for those in this community,” said Dr. McEachern. “My surgical team and I have been involved with the hospital for years, so we look forward to the continued relationship, only now as part of the NMC family.”
Dr. McEachern will be joined by mid-level provider Jan Schroeder, APRN, surgical nurse Kim Lasiter, RN, and medical assistant Helen Stanford.

A graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Dr. McEachern is board certified in general surgery. He is a Certified Wound Specialist and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. His areas of interest within general surgery include colorectal, breast, anti-reflux, surgical management for skin cancers and endocrine surgery. Dr. McEachern is specially trained in da Vinci® robotic surgery technology, which he uses for colon resections and hernia repairs. In addition, Dr. McEachern has served as the medical director of Newton Medical Center’s Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center since 2009.
The Newton Surgical Group office is currently undergoing renovations to accommodate the growing clinic. Until renovations are completed, Dr. McEachern’s office will remain in the former Via Christi Clinic building, 720 Medical Center Drive.
