Newton Medical Center (NMC) announced today the addition of David Dennis, MD, to the hospital’s inpatient rehabilitation unit (IRU). Dr. Dennis will serve as the medical director for the unit.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Dennis join our IRU,” said Kristi Vrtiska, associate chief nursing officer. “His wealth of knowledge and focus on treating the whole person will ensure our patients receive exemplary care during their rehabilitation.”
“I hope to lead the outstanding team of therapists, nurses and other personnel at NMC in providing the highest quality rehabilitation experience possible,” said Dr. Dennis. “Our goal is to help each person achieve their maximum independent function and return to their life as soon as possible.”
Dr. Dennis is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine. Most recently, Dr. Dennis practiced at Mowery Clinic in Salina since 1988. During that time, he served as medical director of the former skilled care services unit at Salina Regional Health Center, directing the rehabilitation and medical care for patients. In addition, Dr. Dennis held a variety of other leadership positions at the hospital including medical staff president and chairman of the department of medicine.
