Newton Medical Center announced today it has signed a letter of intent with The Summit to purchase Pinnacle Rehabilitation & Sports Performance. Effective March 1, 2017, the clinic will begin operations as an outpatient service of the hospital.
The Summit, a physician-owned healthcare facility, has owned and operated the clinic since 2009.
“With our primary location in Hutchinson, we decided it was time to focus our efforts there,” said Bob Frame, chief executive officer, The Summit. “When considering exiting the Newton market, it was important that our patients and staff would be well taken care of. Newton Medical Center has been a great community partner to us, so selling to the hospital just made sense.”
With their building lease expiring early this year, The Summit initiated discussions with Newton Medical Center in late 2016.
“For us, it was an easy decision,” said Val Gleason, president and chief executive officer, Newton Medical Center. “We’ve always appreciated our working relationship with The Summit and their physicians and staff. This opportunity to continue working with them and offer outpatient rehabilitation to our patients allows us to provide greater care integration, which in turn, extends our ability to care for our community.”
Teams at both Newton Medical Center and The Summit share the commitment to providing the highest quality care. During the transition of ownership, no interruptions to patient care are anticipated. In addition, Newton Medical Center has extended job offers to all current clinic staff members, ensuring patients will continue to receive care from the providers they are familiar with. The hospital will continue to work with the same physicians and offer the same comprehensive therapy services previously offered by Pinnacle Rehabilitation & Sports Performance, located on the hospital campus at 510 E. Wheatridge Drive.
