NMC Health Neurology Specialists is pleased to announce the addition of Khawla Abusamra, MD, MBBS, to our clinic in Newton. She joins Board-certified Sarab Alseoudi, MD, to provide neurology services close to home. She works with patients seeking answers to headaches, seizures, optic nerve inflammation, multiple sclerosis and more. She also works with stroke victims.

Why are you excited to join NMC Health?

Why did you choose to have a career in healthcare?
“I always wanted to help people and make a difference in their lives! There is no better means than healthcare to satisfy this desire.”
What are your specialties, and why did you choose them?
“I specialize in adult neurology and neuro-ophthalmology. I treat a variety of conditions that affect the central and peripheral nervous systems and the optic pathways including, but not limited to, headaches, strokes, multiple sclerosis, optic nerve inflammation, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, neuromyelitis optica, and seizures.”
What inspires you to do what you do every day?
“The impact I make in people’s lives and the smile on my patients’ faces make me wake up every morning wanting to do what I do every day. I want to make a change in this world.”
1) What is your favorite thing about working with patients?
“Spending time to bond with my patients and building an excellent rapport that help them understand their disease process and the plan of care.”
What is your top priority when providing healthcare?
“My top priority is patient safety and providing individualized care.”
What are your favorite things to do outside of the office?
Cooking and taking care of my children.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone considering a career in healthcare, what would it be?
“To anyone who is considering a career in healthcare, I would say pursue your passion and select an area that motivates you and provides positive experiences.”

“Not to stop learning and continue seeking opportunities to advance myself.”
What’s one thing you wish every patient knew?
“Searching the internet for medical answers is not a valid substitute for your doctor. Please feel free to ask your doctor all of your medical questions.”
